PANDAS and PANS in School Settings: A Handbook for Educators

In a Pickle Over PANDAS

Right-Brained Children in a Left-Brained World, Freed/Parsons

I loved this book from the moment I started to read it. Fast easy read with real-time practical help and advice for helping your child adopt his/her true learning style if they are indeed a right-brainer (think ADD).

Beyond Consequences, Logic and Control, Heather T Forbes

Vols. 1, 2, 3

I found this book when it was suggested that our son had RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder) as a comorbid diagnosis with his ADD, anxiety and depression. Out of any behavioral technique or book I have found, this particular book has helped more than any other tool, treatment or person so far in the entire time we have been searching for answers. The techniques and situations, other parents stories and little anecdotes described in the book absolutely describe and work for us with our son. We are currently enrolled in Heather T Forbes Beyond Consequences parenting webinar and suddenly find ourselves surrounded by people who are parenting our child! Or at least a child so similar to ours it’s unbelievable. We are also working with a parenting coach locally who has been helping us implement the beyond logic systems into our home. It is possible to find people trained in the Logic and Consequences program who will help you in your home state. I found the logic and consequence book about 3 months ago and the change has been startling. It isn’t ever going to be an overnight solution with anything for our son, but this has helped us start working through his problems more so than any other modality we have found so far.

PANS, CANS, and Automobiles: A Comprehensive … Book by Jamie Candelaria Greene “The alarming symptoms of Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome – sudden tics, OCD, and regressions in both learning ability and behavior – can leave families stunned.”

In A Pickle Over PANDAS by Melanie S. Weiss This book is about a young boy’s journey with a harrowing illness called PANDAS, an acronym for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcus. He wakes up one morning, and overnight, is stricken with unusual and frightening symptoms that turn his world upside down. Some of the symptoms he experiences are anxiety & OCD. This happened all because an autoimmune response caused dysfunctional antibodies to invade the basal ganglia of the brain instead of fighting off the streptococcus bacteria.
